Let’s countdown the top 17 most a e s t h e t i c songs in video game history, songs from our childhood that will pump out nostalgic magic and romanticized memories every time we happen to hear them. Furthermore, a e s t h e t i c in the sense that these songs can be easily recognized as having a Vaporwave style or touch to them. Some of these tracks I think you’ll know and love just as much as I do, however, a couple of these I think you’ll be discovering for the first time, and I am very, very excited to introduce them to you.

  1. I feel like the soundtrack for castlevania IV is pretty overlooked and had some really fantastic tunes

  2. NO PIZAZ, can't you read the sign?

I think Time Commando has some pretty aesthetic tunes in its soundtrack. Prehistory is one of my favourites, but it's got aesthetic stuff littered throughout.

    Also Gex: Enter The Gecko.

  3. What about the mall rooftop from yume nikki

  4. oh man ! you just remmebered me the existend of roll away, i used to play that game as a kid and to love it, it was so non sensical but great

  5. Okay literally none of the games I'm about to mention have aesthetic or vaporwave visuals or music, but the whole Cuphead soundtrack, Spanish Sahara from Life is Strange, the Save Room theme from Resident Evil 0, the whole Mario Kart Wii soundtrack, the X-Naut Fortress music from Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door, the music box songs from FNaF, the whole Undertale soundtrack, Final Fantasy battle music, the Song of Healing from Majora's Mask, and Gerudo Valley from Ocarina of Time always hit me right in the nostalgia. I'm pretty young so my nostalgia is in different places obviously, but holy heck I love all of these games and their soundtracks

  6. You forget Harvest Moon Back to Nature of PS1,great a e s t h e t i c game

  7. i think code veronica – save room from resident evil./ track is a cool one to note*

  8. Banjo Kazooie, when you hit the top of the mountain on the beach world.
    The white noise wind whistles.

  9. i think i'd like to add the new tetris to this list. i've never played it, but i've listened to the music and it's quite aesthetic.

  10. A few Gran Turismo menu songs are kinda vaporwave like

  11. Welp guess I have to play LEGO island again for the 1846749th time

  12. silent hill 1 & 2 has the beat soundtracks and gameplay experience in gaming history

  13. Almost anything from Mario Paint or Earthbound has strong aesthetics, though I don't know if they would classify as vaporwave style.

  14. with me I'd say
    10. History- Sonic mega collection
    9. Angler's Tunnel- Link's awakening remake
    8. Star city- Diddy kong racing
    7. the entire astro boy the omega factor soundtrack
    6. Cascade caper- Donkey kong country 3 (GBA version)
    5. Pilotwings 64 Glider theme
    4. Space queens- Sonic X-treme (cancelled Saturn game)
    3. Main menu- Inspector Gadget crazy maze
    2. The entire majora's mask soundtrack
    1. The entire ocarina of time soundtrack

  15. That Donkey Kong Country aquatic track got me into Vaporwave…powercut used it for ‘me and my vector’

  16. the water level theme from jazz jackrabbit 2!

  17. A lot of Nintendo on here so I thought I’d suggest some “aesthetic” Sega tracks to add to the list. I recommend everybody checks out the Ecco the Dolphin’s soundtrack – specifically the Sega CD version. Also the Nights into Dreams soundtrack on Sega Saturn is surreal and dreamy. Enjoy!

  18. THE YUGIOH SONG AND LEGO ISLAND IS SO NOSTALGICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC MY CHILDHOOOOOD

  19. the soundtrack to ghost in the shell sac (ps2) is aesthetic af

  20. You could've included the wifi menu for mario kart wii

  21. Finally someone touches on Yugioh forbidden memories library music, i would spend hours just scrolling through library looking at cards and jank 3D models while listening to this it's almost therapeutic 🙂

  22. You ain't JoBro if Araki lets you live says:

Im just here chillin with Shin Megami Tensei IV's: Tokyo map for daysssss. Idk that much about music, but the music feels like a chaotic depressing remnants of tokyo, but it still has life and activities underground.

  23. Some of my favorite aesthetic video game songs come from Super monkey ball

  24. Aquatic Ambience is so good, and slightly sombre

  25. Stickerbrush Symphony in DKC2 is also amazing. Video game music really deserves its due with music nerds cause it had so much inspiration in Vaporwave and Hip-Hop.

A few recommendations that I don’t think others have mentioned:

-Anodyne 1&2 (and other Analgesic Production games): Definitely some aesthetic driven games to a degree, but just very unique, strange games. The music is a mix of ambient music and slightly more melodic and upbeat songs. Hard to describe, but both lovely soundtracks.

-Super Monkey Ball Series has some super nice tunes

-Ecco: Defender of the Future (the other ecco games too – like, c’mon, it’s too on the nose)

-Spyro 2&3 have some really catchy tunes.

-Gimmick/Mr. Gimmick for the NES (absolutely amazing NES soundtrack, with the beach theme especially fitting the bill for vaporwave aesthetics)

Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Aurora Area

-Since Vaporwave artists love weird old games, MOON: Remix RPG Adventure has great music of many genres.

  26. The only thing close to aesthetic music that I heard is Beat of Terror from Ys Book I & II

  27. Bomberman Hero – Redial and
    Pokemon Platinum – Route 201

  28. Literally any music from the n64 and ps1 most of my favorite osts and tracks come from those games from those amazing consoles

  29. I love Mario Kart, but Diddy Kong Racing was the better game between the two. It sucks that we never got a series out of it.

  30. My all time favourite will always be the theme from 3D pinball space cadet.

  31. Pad, go listen to Yume 2kki OST, Frogger [ps1] OST, DKC2 OST and Route 216 from Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. Phenomenal aesthetic soundtracks you didn't mention!

  32. Bummed I didn't see any MegaMan on here, some of those older games have tracks that would have fit perfectly

  33. You’re just gonna do the Forest Temple like that huh

  34. cubalibre.exe says:

Lovely video, i agree that all of them are nostalgic and very very beautiful in their own way, pure magic, i'll try to take samples from those as well ;)) love for you buddy <3

  35. I just love the information center from Lego Island, there's just something about it man.

  36. Literally the entire soundtrack of C-DI Tetris is very aesthetic.

  37. james bond nightfire menu music oyuh oyuh
