We worked a lot on sight reading over the trimester in both treble and bass clefs. For this activity, each student was given a flash card, containing either music notation or solfege syllables. The student then had to find his/her match and after listening to the melody straight through, put his/her flash card on the board in the correct order.

  3. What grade was this class? Do you have other suggestions or resources for literacy practicing activities for middle schoolers?

  4. Why do they teach "Do Re Min …" without saying "C D E ..? It seems that is this school is in France or Italy.
