also please make more vids I watch all your videos when I feel like not dealing with the world I hope people give your video more views cause you have a lot of good content and you have more sub than views on most your videos I hope this channel grows really and idk maybe longer videos but that is asking too much
One track that always hits hard for me in a video game is Aerith's theme from Final Fantasy VII, specifically the original version. At the start of the game and when you first meet her, her theme plays off as warming and soft with a melancholic vibe to it. Almost as if it's a warm blanket wrapping around you comforting you on your journey. But the moment her death happens and her theme plays again especially during the boss fight that follows after, the theme hits different. That blanket that was comforting you was suddenly swiped away and it'll never come back. And the melancholy vibe turns into a saddening tune that brings tears to many eyes. One song can feel so warm and soft then turn into cold and lost all because of an event that happens. That's how powerful music can truly be in video games and it's so damn interesting. I definitely didn't write all this out by the way just to mention Final Fantasy 7 or Aerith at all. No way fam. Definitely still not crying because of her death.
Adaptive soundtracks dont get stuck in you head huh? Laughs in half of the doom ost. Oh also we not mentioning terraria ost? is it special? no. but damn it just hits just right for the game.
The Song of Mana from Legend of Mana is a swedish lyrics song that feels like the ACTUAL intro song of the game as it plays during an FMV during the tutorial. And lyrics are not something that a game usually has outside of cutscenes, so it feels special. It is the most nostalgic song of that game and it only plays ONCE. Annoyingly the ending is also apparently called Song of Mana and has lyrics so it's hard to know you are hearing the right one.
we can all dog on mega man 2 for being really easy (in the nes version the genesis version lags so much due to barely executing optimizations) and the weapons being bad okay two barely run out of energy and do very high damage for what they cost to do and the others are redundant but mm2 has a darn good soundtrack
Check out Ape Out if you haven't already. I have never seen a game pull of an adaptive soundtrack that well. Also each chapter has a unique sound and vibe even though the soundtrack is adaptive.
Speaking of admitting bad videogames with music that slaps… can we talk about FFXIII's Blinded by Light? say whatever you want. I'll die on the hill of "that song fuckin ROCKS"
Banjo-Kazooie was one of the first game that layered different instruments and versions of a theme on top of each other, and muted or unmuted parts depending on where you were in the game. To excellent results, too, which made the mood while exploring feel very dynamic and fun.
Hrimfaxi from Ace Combat 5. When I first heard it I thought them ICBMs were gonna blow up outside my house, it had me sweatin'!
Also, Ace Combat 7's soundtrack really fucks with that leimotif concept thing you mention in the video, in case you wanted to see more examples of it in use.
I never played FFX-2 but the thing about taking an upbeat song and turning into a more subdued song is done in Xenoblade with Riki's theme. "Riki the Legendary Heropon" is very silly sounding, while "Riki's Kindness" is very sweet and sentimental. I'm actually impressed how much emotional depth they managed to get out of the "obligatory jrpg wacky mascot character" in this game in general, Riki is one of my favourite characters in the whole series.
Particle Fleet: Emergence has the best score. I would be surprised if it wasn't adaptive, aparently it's just 12 songs but usually when I was about to win this played and it felt so uplifting – Evolution | Finn M-K
I prefer to have music during exploration in games especially in open worlds where you just traverse for mins from point a to b, it can get verry boring without music.
no more hero's or chrono trigger could have been some good choices to the video

The prof layton music made tune after tune and that soundtrack is definitely laced in something illegal. its so so good
I mean 90% of Square Enix JRPGs have good soundtrack

i just noticed at 8:40 you put "VX" instead of "XV" and im irrationally upset
i subbed to you just because you kept calling video games "vidje games". Respect.
I am sorry that he had to use so much bad language. Nice material but his language made it no good. I am sorry
a soundtrack from my childhood that i listen to to this day is flatout 2

Several good points in this video 😊 Thanks
Talks about opening cutscene music and doesn’t mention sonic heroes 🙁
