Who knew theft could be so easy? Today we talk about Video Game music and the many types of ‘inspirations’ composers have taken. It’s easy to call something stolen, but what actually qualifies as plagarism? That’s what we’ll be looking at today!

Metropolis Zone from Sonic 2 sounds somewhat similar to “You’d Better Believe It” by Hawkwind. Also, Gourmet Race from Kirby Super Star sounds like a sped-up version of “the Shining Path” by Sun City Girls (which in turn is an interpretation of “Llorando se fue”)
Most of the MJ Sonic tracks are better than the prototype versions, but honestly fuck the MJ carnival night track, that shit sucks ass.
9:55 I can only think of Bfdi episode 3
JUST DRAWN A LITTLE DOODLE
Hey, speaking of Ace Attorney! The theme for Great Revival (Franziska von Karma's theme) has a part in it that, to me, sounds eerily similar to the classic bit in Smoke on the Water. Probably not actually similar at all, but just sounded like it to me.
Ah yes, the easiest thing to steal, music.
In all fairness, Robo's theme predates Never Gonna Give You Up I'm pretty sure.
Sonic actually got Micheal Jackson to do a great amount of tunes just for people who don't know
The start of Concerto For Philodendron & Pothos sounds like Zelda's Lullaby
My childhood is a lie
Let’s not forget about the Super Mario Land 1 star man theme, which is quite literally just the Can Can.
1:58
That sounds like… mother brain theme from Super Metroid too… no… no no…
Suprised you havemt mentioned the original 2 doom games
i love earth bounds use of sampaling music giving it a sort of jojo like feel in its refrencing of popular music and i go out of my way to fight new age retro hippes
I think I hate music now
Fire Emblem 6’s Wyvern General theme straight up just rips off Lunar Sea by Camel
I've heard before that the amount of combinations of notes means that the number of tunes to create is functionally infinite.
This… is making me wonder if that statement had overlooked just how many of those combinations aren't really valid "music"…
Oh, and I'm definitely convinced that Sonic 3 didn't steal from MJ now. Was pretty sure before, but that comparison clearly showed inspiration, not replication. Not like Dragon Ball's examples anyway.
TO BE FAIR toby did call that song keygen fkshfnf
also i fucking love. and i mean love that sonic 3's credits music is just stranger in moscow. someone mixed the two just right and now its like i cant listen to one without wanting to have the other combined with it bc it sounds incomplete if i dont lmao
Sister Marian was a banger
You had Sonic pointing a gun at Spamton in the thumbnail but didn't point out how close Big Shot sounds to Metallic Madness Bad Future
i thought you were going to mention how BIG SHOT sounds similar to the Japanese version of Metallic Madness Bad future
Fzero Mute City and Claudio Baglioni Mille giorni di te e di me. I'm not joking. They're dated both 1990 iirc so I think it's a coincidence, still it's unreal
11:45 WINTER ROAD BY SVIRIDOV MENTIONED????? I HAVENT EVEN PLAYED THE OG METAL GEAR SOLID I JUST LIKE WINTER ROAD???? I DIDNT KNOW ANYONE ELSE KNEW WHAT IT WAS, MUCH LESS THAT IT WAS POSSIBLY QUOTED IN A WELL KNOWN GAME FRANCHISE??? Ok I'll stop yelling now
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT STARLIGHT ZONE THATS THE BEST SONG OF SONIC 1
5:05 You can hear the Deep Purple influence in 2 of the 3 boss themes in Yoshi's Island.
THAT KEYGEN THING IS SO COOL
I hear nothing similar about final fantasy 7 battle music and Motorhead your exaggerating also even if it's true why does it even matter metal in final fantasy is cool better than classic music in nearly every title
mega man 2 and invocation by bobby mcferrin
WHY AM [[eye pain]] GETTING [[shot in the face]]
I love t-square
The sonic 1 demo tapes have a surprisingly different feel from the genesis version or their inspiration.
Is it just me or does the DeltaRune a UnderTale music sound nothing like those examples? Like at all?
I’m surprised you didn’t mention pizza tower’s bloodsauce dungeon music, which is LITERALLY the EXACT SAME as the melody in intergalactic by beastie boys, as an early version of bloodsauce dungeon’s music straight up sampled the song.
I think that the biggest takeaway here is that copyright, in particular music copyright, is a nightmare.
also nothing is completely original. that too.
NAH, PARAPPA STAGE 2 IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE. THAT BOP IS STOLEN?
You forgot Mega Man 1’s Elec Man’s theme sounding like Joirney
Dude i was playing Earthbound, i got called out
Go look up Angel Touch by Cindy, Sega practically stole 90% of their instruments from her songs.
I played Spiderman & Venom Separation Anxiety on snes as a kid, and always thought the opening song sounded like "Show Me Love" by Robin S
Kinda surprised no one in the comments seems to have mentioned that you were wrong with Earthbound (unless this is some inside joke for this channel I'm not aware of).
Earthbound's Japanese name was not Doki Doki Panic, it was Mother 2.
Doki Doki Panic was a tie-in game for a Japanese event being put on by a TV station that ended up being reskinned and shipped to the US as Super Mario Bros 2.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Final Zone sounds like Planet Earth. I always thought I was nuts for hearing a resemblance!
8:12 Nichojou mentioned!!
I was thinking about that exactly. That was my introduction to that song. I love you Alax.
I also loooove this kind of videos talking about music inspiration and crossrefferencing and all that.
I'm so happy to have you back Alax
This video has been very enlightening for my music tastes
My face exploded with a joyful grin when the Keygen segment turned into a timeless YTP reference. How have I not been watching your content yet? This is hilarious!
I think you may have misnamed the song at 13:33, it’s called “Love Won’t Wait” from that same artist.
Fun Music Fact: The H note used to actually exist
13:32 The correct song is "Love Won't Wait – Bobby Caldwell " Its a easy mistake since its the album name lol!
6:23 also important to note the song is very similar to Green Green
The Toby Fox ones seem a bit more transformative
This video is a jewel!! XD
